DIY Cleaning products

sharvie22

As a society, we are obsessed with cleaning this and keeping things clean. Most of the cleaning products commonly used are made up of toxic chemicals. These chemicals enter our waterways every time you tip cleaning water down the drain. Our waterways are becoming toxic and poisoned by our toxic cleaning products. Killing insects and plant life in ponds and rivers. Traditional cleaning methods are less hazardous to our environment. It was once common to use vinegar and bicarbonate soda. This small change is an easy swap and it can be creative. You can use any scents, citrus, floral or herbal. I like to add cinnamon and cloves with my citrus spray.

Citrus multi-purpose cleaner

Gather all your citrus peels, (lemon, lime, or oranges) there is no set amount but the more the better. Place all your peel into an air-tight container then pour white vinegar over the peel until is covered. Close the container and place it in the dark cupboard and leave it for a week. After a week the oils from the peel have left the peel and blended with the vinegar. Use a drain of the mixture through a sieve and discard the peels into your food bin.

Pour some of your mixture into a spray bottle and add water to dilute the mixture. Then use it on all surfaces like any other cleaning product. If you are unsure about using the cleaning solution then test on your surface. The cleaning mixture is easy to make and cheaper than buying new bottles.
